TOSC Staff

TOSC staff have a technical background in enviromental cleanup and experience working with community groups. We are a diverse team with training in civil engineering, chemistry, public health, and sociology.

Kenneth Williamson, Director
Professor and Head of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering

BS Oregon State 1968, MS 1970, PhD Stanford 1973.

Ken has served as the Western Region TOSC Director since 1989. He is also the head of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Oregon State University. He conducts research on bioremediation of hazardous wastes, and biological wastewater treatment.

Stephanie joined TOSC in September 2000 with a background of 20 years experience in university administration. Her interests include facilitation, mediation, and environmental justice.

Associate Professor of Public Health

BS University of Oregon 1972; PhD Oregon State 1990.

Anna has served as a Public Health expert for the Western Region TOSC program since its beginning. She is chair of OSU's Department of Public Health. Her research/TOSC interests include public health issues associated with chemical contamination, community involvement, environmental justice, and water quality.

Michael has 20 years of experience in environmental engineering. He has worked as a Technical Assistance Specialist in both the TOSC and Technical Assistance for Brownfield Communities (TAB) programs since July, 1998. His professional interests include environmental education, community outreach, and sustainable development.

Jerry Orlando, Technical Assistance Specialist

BS Chemistry, University of Missouri, St. Louis; MS in Technology and Human Affairs, Washington University School of Engineering and Applied Science.

Jerry works with the Technical Assistance for Brownfield Communities (TAB) program. He joined our center in May 2002 after working for 15 years in the environmental field as an analytical chemist, supervisor, quality manager, and project manager. He has background in environmental law, technology management, and community-based environmental issues.

Brenda Hoppe , Graduate Research Assistant

B.S. Education, University of Wisconsin-Madison; M.S. Human Physiology, University of Oregon

Brenda joined TOSC in 2006. She is a doctoral student in public health with an emphasis in environmental health and minor in toxicology. She has a background in risk communication having worked with Oregon Health Sciences University . She also works part-time as a risk assessor for AMEC Earth & Environmental, an environmental consulting firm in Portland, Oregon .
