Greetings from the Western Region
TOSC/TAB group.
This is our second update to our colleagues with whom we share
interests.

On January 28, 2002 The Western Region TOSC-TAB group hosted the national TOSC/TAB and EPA Community Involvement Conference in Portland. This annual event draws together Technical Assistance specialists and EPA Community Involvement Coordinators from around the country. The conference gives colleagues a chance to share information and discuss community assistance strategies. This year's meeting marked the beginning of a new funding cycle for the TOSC/TAB program. In October 2001, USEPA awarded new grants for five Hazardous Substance Research Centers. Each Center operates a TOSC and TAB program for their region. Conference themes included: "Assessment: How do you know your doing a good job?", community selection criteria, and skills building. Experienced technical assistance specialists also reviewed "lessons learned" about reviewing technical documents, providing health assistance, and approaching environmental justice issues. You can read the conference agenda here. |
