TAB ProjectsThe Western Region TAB Program is currently working on several community-based projects. You can read a little about them below. For more information, please contact us.
Organization or Project: Richmond Redevelopment Agency, Richmond CA TAB Contact: Jerry Orlando, Jerry.Orlando@oregonstate.edu, 541-737-5736 Description: The Richmond Redevelopment Agency received an EPA assessment grant in 2003 for a development project planned for a large shipping terminal on the San Francisco Bay. TAB has been assisting the Agency with community relations activities including writing a community relations plan, participating in community meetings and making contact with community leaders to offer technical assistance. Organization or Project: Oregon DEQ Brownfields Program TAB Contact: Michael Fernandez, michael.fernandez@oregonstate.edu Description:TAB helped coordinate Oregon participation in EPA's Brownfields 2003 conference. This annual conference took place in Portland on October 27-29, 2003. Over 3500 representatives from local, state, and federal government, as well as from private sector consulting and finance participated in this year's conference. TAB also created and administered a community brownfields needs assessment survey to cities and counties of Oregon on behalf of DEQ. More information about the survey is available at: http://www.tosc.orst.edu/about/news/newsletters/2003_07.htm Organization or Project: City of Spokane, Spokane, WA TAB Contact: Jerry Orlando, Jerry.Orlando@oregonstate.edu, 541-737-5736 Description: The City of Spokane received an EPA assessment grant in May 2002 to address two economically depressed sections of the city. TAB has been assisting in various aspects of the city’s brownfields activities. TAB's assistance is to design and help implement a systematic process of prioritizing and selecting brownfields properties for redevelopment. The process includes the use of surveys and workshops designed and facilitated by TAB. TAB also served on a committee that selected an environmental consulting firm to perform assessments and other functions.
